Article Summary

The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) has released its preliminary findings from the administrative review of the antidumping duty order concerning stainless steel sheet and strip in coils (SSSSC) imported from Taiwan.

The review, which covered the period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, concluded that two Taiwanese companies were found to have sold below market value. Based on the findings, the DOC has imposed a preliminary weighted-average dumping margin of 21.10%.

Meanwhile, Yieh United Steel Corporation (YUSCO) was excluded from this review as it did not export any of the subject products to the U.S. during the review period.

The DOC is expected to issue the final results within 120 days of this preliminary announcement.

Insights from our team
"These preliminary results suggest increased duties for certain Taiwanese exporters of stainless steel, potentially impacting pricing and supply chain strategies for U.S. importers. Stakeholders should monitor the final outcome closely, as it may influence future trade dynamics.
This development may serve as both a warning and an opportunity. For U.S. buyers, it underscores the importance of sourcing from compliant and unaffected mills, such as YUSCO in this case. For Taiwanese exporters, it highlights the need to reassess pricing strategies and ensure full compliance to avoid penalties in future reviews."
